Background

People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Most of the time, this is related to being in pain and the desire to change. The beauty of being human is our ability to find meaning in our suffering and to create beauty from ashes. We can use our struggles to make us stronger, more resilient, and more loving. No matter what age a person is, I am here to tell you there is hope.

One of my specialties is working with clients facing challenges during the perinatal time period, including issues such as coping with perinatal anxiety and depression, parenting through adoption, infertility, the journey of creating a family with assisted reproductive technology, and adjustment to parenthood. I am here to walk with you on your parenting journey. I combine my experience and training in perinatal mental health care to help my clients enhance their understanding, build coping skills, find support in parenting and life changes, and move toward healing and wholeness. Often the birth of a child can unconsciously trigger fears, anxiety, and grief from earlier losses or unresolved trauma. Healing, just like life, looks different for each person. We will explore together what you need to find your way through the challenges and opportunities you face in becoming a parent.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate conducting psychological assessment and providing psychotherapy services, and I am also pursuing my PhD in clinical psychology. My professional experience involves working with children, adolescents, and adults in school and community mental health settings. The way I approach psychotherapy is humanistic and person-centered, using acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness practices, art-based interventions, and somatic approaches. I also enjoy conducting psychological assessments for clients of all ages to help them learn about themselves and find clues to the underlying causes of their current challenges. Although the assessment process may seem daunting, the detailed information provided can be the key to profound change.

It takes great courage to reach out for help and even greater courage to change. You do not have to do this alone. One of the most powerful things about psychotherapy is having someone really see you as you are in this moment and yet, at the same time, see the beauty of who you can become. If you have any questions or need help to discern your next step, please contact me. I am here to help.
