Miu Hart
Pronouns: They/He
Background
I use individualized, culturally informed practices to work with school-age clients and their families to address a range of needs. I believe in building collaborative relationships with my clients and empowering them to take ownership of the progress they make in our work together. This includes taking a creative approach to treatment that encourages self-expression. It’s important that therapy is meaningful to you – however, that looks. My clients have included individuals who are LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and from culturally diverse backgrounds. Together we have worked on issues related to school, anxiety, depression, peer and family relationships, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. I offer a nonjudgmental, laidback space to process whatever is on the client’s mind.
My name is Miu and I am a licensed mental health counseling associate earning my Ph.D. in School Psychology at the University of Washington. My clinical research focuses on arts-based mindfulness approaches for diverse youth populations. I find that visual arts can help us to express thoughts that are too complex to put into words. My training has included Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I view treatment with an intersectional lens and believe there is no one approach that is one-size-fits-all.
I have experience providing therapy both in-person and via telehealth and am
happy to accommodate whichever is your preference. Feel free to contact me
with any questions you may have, and to see if we could be a good fit.
