Teresa Acosta

I attended Florida State University and hold a Master’s of Social Work.  I also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a BASW (Bachelor of Arts in social work).  I earned my license LICSW (licensed independent clinical social worker) and currently supervise other clinicians.

I have experience with helping clients that have anxiety and depression. I use an eclectic style and, depending on the client’s input, including some behavioral techniques e.g., CBT, DBT and mindfulness. My primary focus however is Rogerian client centered practice. This approach views people as fully autonomous individuals with the capability to put in the work required to realize their full potential and bring about positive changes in their lives.

I see psychotherapy as a bridge from woundedness to well-being. As my approach is client centered, I would first ask what you are looking for in therapy and why at this time? What does (anxiety/panic/stress, etc.) look like for you?  What would you like to have happen in treatment? I will explain the structure of  counseling, how you will reach your therapy goals, and how you will obtain relief from symptoms. I love my work and look forward to meeting you soon!
