Vita McFarland
Assessor
MA, LMHCA
Background
Hello there! My name is Vita, and I am a licensed mental health counseling associate. Since receiving a Masters in Psychology from Northwest University of 2012, I have provided mental health services to clients of all ages within both community mental health and private practice settings. I have received specialized training in Attachment-based Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trust-based Relational Intervention, and evidence-based treatment of neurodiversity and eating disorders. The majority of my clinical experience has come from helping adolescents and adults with both depressive and anxiety disorders.
My approach to mental health treatment is balanced and holistic, taking into account the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual aspects of each person, to enable to complete healing. In this way, you work through all components of your life that have contributed to your current condition. I have a special interest in the relationship between gut health and neurodevelopmental disorders. As a mom to a child with ADHD, I am well-versed in areas specific to the neurodiverse community and the nuances of the experience of neurodivergent individuals.
As an assessor for Sandbox Therapy Group, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment for clients to engage their stories and learn more about themselves. I do my best to establish rapport with each client I work with in order to ensure that the assessment process is as comfortable as possible. By taking the time to obtain an accurate diagnosis through questioning, behavioral observation, and test data interpretation, I am better able to determine which resources and therapies will most benefit you (or your child).
When I’m not working, I enjoy trying new restaurants, reading/introverting in coffee shops, bicycling, hiking, and taking local mini trips with my boys. My family has recently moved back to Washington after spending some time in Texas, and I couldn’t be happier to be back in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
If you choose to work with me, I will show an interest in you as a person, conduct testing with patience and compassion, and do my best to point you in the right direction to address your (or your child’s) unique needs. I provide services both in-person and via telehealth and am happy to accommodate whichever is your preference. I look forward to hearing from you about how I might be able to assist you.
